ITCom U-M Message Center

Log In
A Message Center subscription, user name, and web access password are required for log in.

  • U-M Message Center is being phased out and replaced with Exchange Voice Mail. ITCom Project Managers are working with departments to make this transition. Check with the ITCom Service Center (763-2000) if you have questions.

    Subscriptions

    University of Michigan faculty, staff, and students living in University Housing may use U-M Message Center for their voice and fax communications. University residence hall residents are automatically subscribed. Faculty and staff should fill out the form at www.itcom.itcs.umich.edu/orders/ to obtain a subscription.

      To access your personal mailbox, dial:

      Express Messaging

      To record a message directly into the mailbox of another Message Center subscriber (without ringing the subscriber's phone), dial:

      6-9200   (734-936-9200) Ann Arbor
      6-9150   (313-436-9150) Dearborn
      6-6695   (810-766-6695) Flint

      Enter the subscriber's 10-digit mailbox number when prompted and press #. (The 10-digit mailbox number is area code plus 7-digit telephone number.)

      Indirect Access

      To access your mailbox if you are calling from the phone of another subscriber, dial your phone number; when you hear your greeting, press star (*). Enter your password and press #. You will then be in your mailbox.

      Call Forward All (for subscriber's with programmable phone sets only)

      To forward all calls to your mailbox without ringing your phone, program your phone to forward your calls to:

    Web

    System Requirements

      Your computer can be a PC with MS-Windows or an Apple Macintosh Power G3 or higher with Mac OS X (preferably) or Mac OS 9. Unix and Linux machines may also be used, but these systems have not been tested.

      To listen to voice messages via the web, you need speakers, sound card, and driver. (Mac OS 9 users also need a special application to open audio files. See FAQ in the Help section.) To record messages via the web, you need a microphone and driver.

      Your web browser can be Internet Explorer (version 5.0 or higher), Netscape Communicator (version 6.2 or higher), or Mozilla (version 1.7 or higher). Safari is not currently compatible with Message Center.
